On 20 May, the 25 winners and their tutors of the 16th Latvian History Competition were awarded by the President of Latvia, Raimonds Vējonis. The ceremony took place in the Grand House of the Riga Latvian Society.

The topic of this year’s Latvian competition was “Practice Makes Perfect”. 81 competition entries were sent in for evaluation. In total 96 students took part in the competition. Authors of 25 studies were invited to present their work to the jury. The participants received certificates and books.

The competition entries were displayed during the award ceremony and every participant had the chance to have a glimpse at other students' work. Along with tutors and students' relatives, President Raimonds Vējonis explored the exhibition as well.

The Latvian History Competition is being organised by the “History Teachers' Association of Latvia” since 2001.
